Bedroom Nightstand. Thursday , November 23rd , 2017 - 09:02:09 AM
Not all table lamps are created equal for reading. Ideally, the base of the shade should sit level with your eyes when you're propped up in bed, and the shade should direct light toward you rather than channeling it up or down. Floor lamps also are an option, but they compete for space with nightstands, so it can be harder to make them work.
Cozy rustic. Raw, unfinished wood is key to this look, but you don't need to splurge on a big piece to make it work. Use a plain wood slice (find it in a crafts store) as a tray to hold bedside necessities, repurpose a wood stump as a table or bring in a few rustic wooden boxes as bedroom storage. Create warmth with cozy patchwork quilts, wool blankets and faux fur pillows — and if you have a pair of cowboy boots, be sure to leave them out on display.
Tropical hue. Deep, watery blue hues are among my favorites for a bedroom. The slight green undertones give a bit of warmth that a true blue lacks. It's also a nice choice if you happen to associate the color with a vacation spent someplace warm, lush and tropical. For the ceiling, I went with a crisp and light greenish-gray, and the trim color is a slightly cool off-white.
