A nice way to mix and match furnishings is to unify them with a common hue. In this space, the lamps differ in height and style, but the color green is what allows them to "speak" to each other. On either side of this bed, you'll see that the nightstands and artwork are different. However, equity is created because the height on both sides is the same. This type of symmetry is not always necessary, but visual balance does help to make a room feel more comfortable for some people.
Orange above. If you prefer to wake up with a happy jolt, try a bold orange-gold color on the ceiling. An orange ceiling will intensify the blue of the skies outside as blue and orange are complementary colors. With such a strong color on the ceiling, I'd go with light and warm neutrals for the walls and trim.
Fresh romantic. Pure linen sheets or pillow shams, flowing white curtains and fresh flowers are musts for this look. Practicing a bit of restraint will keep it from veering into froufrou territory — a bit of a ruffle perhaps, but skip the floral prints. Walls painted a pale minty green provide a soothing backdrop.
