Focus on the view. A bedroom always feels nicer when the first thing you experience is a pleasant view out the window — as opposed to a view looking straight at the bed. If you're designing a new bedroom or reworking an old one, try to come up with a layout that focuses on the vista — whether it's something as stunning as a lake or as simple as your backyard.
Dapper gent. As polished and tailored as a bespoke suit, this look is based around handsome materials like wool, wood and leather, and traditional menswear patterns like a windowpane check and plaids. Furniture with clean lines and neatly tucked bedding keep things looking fresh and modern, while a monogrammed accent injects a bit of personality.
Tropical hue. Deep, watery blue hues are among my favorites for a bedroom. The slight green undertones give a bit of warmth that a true blue lacks. It's also a nice choice if you happen to associate the color with a vacation spent someplace warm, lush and tropical. For the ceiling, I went with a crisp and light greenish-gray, and the trim color is a slightly cool off-white.
